Welcome to Tanya Lown Designs!
Thank you for choosing to visit my website. While you are here on this page, let me introduce myself and my work so you receive a better understanding of the art you are about to view.
Creativity has been my passion all my life. After earning a Ph.D in French and many years teaching in college and high school and in the largest bank in Arizona where I became Southern Division Training and Development Manager within 5 years, I retired and finally was able to pursue a lifelong passion. I loved to draw and wanted to take a silversmithing class in high school, but was unable to do so at that time. Having fallen in love with manipulating silver into beautiful art, I have continually worked to perfect my craft and have received almost as many honors for my work in silver as I did as a teacher. In addition to First Place awards and Best in Class, I have been published in a journal, calendars of exceptional art, and in an online magazine. I have also taught classes in making silver jewelry at Galleries in Tucson and at the Tucson International Gem and Mineral Show.
On this site you will find an emphasis on the timeless beauty of nature which inspires me to create in silver, in leather, and occasionally in bronze or copper. I absolutely love the beauty of the natural world around us: plants, mountains, sea, natural stones and pearls and for this reason I aim to reflect a uniqueness but also a one of a kind modern sophistication with each handcrafted piece. My creations range from the simply elegant to statement pieces and, as previously mentioned have been recipients of many awards, and are shown and sold in galleries, artisan events, businesses, fairs and publications.
I live in Arizona and therefore you will find much of our desert and mountains depicted in my art. Should you live in or near, or visit Tucson, please visit the Cactus Wren Art Gallery In Tubac which carries a wide range of my Southwest pieces; the Leaping Lizard Art Gallery in northeast Tucson which has a variety of my work and hosts a monthly sidewalk show; and Freebird Shoppe north of Tucson in Catalina which has a small sampling containing my petite silver earrings and necklaces and some leather. If you are interested in taking a class, I teach at the Cactus Wren Art Gallery in Tubac upon request,
Enjoy your visit to these pages and I hope you find something that speaks to your imagination and uniqueness!!
